The Clogherhead Prawn Festival is a weekend festival based around the picturesque fishing village of Clogherhead in Co.Louth. The weekend boasts many fun activities for all ages. Experience the many activities to be enjoyed around the Irish Sea both in and out of the water. Water displays include power boat racing, kite surfing, on the beach, with rock climbing and pool-diving on the pier among the presence of a range of vessels including the local fleet and other fine vessels. Smash a World Record with participation from everybody required on the beach. The evening entertainment will boast excellent live music staged in the night zone, which has the Mourne and Cooley Mountains standing majestically in the background. The village will be buzzing with a carnival atmosphere throughout the weekend. The delicious delicacies of locally-caught and freshly cooked seafood will be available for all to sample

RYAN SHERIDAN

Ryan Sheridan is a solo singer and guitarist from County Monaghan. As a teenager, he made his tentative first steps onstage in the pubs and clubs of Manhattan's Lower East Side. An intimidating environment where he was old enough to play but not to drink, the competitive nature of the scene and the city meant he had to get good quick or go home.His next destination was Glasgow, arriving there in 2004. He formed a three piece rock band called 'Shiversaint' and started to work the Scottish circuit with mixed results. The trio survived a crossing of the Irish Sea and a relocation to Dublin in 2006, but by the following year Ryan felt the band had run its course and took a two year hiatus frommusic to run a bar in his home town. However, a sense of unfinished business and an urge to play in public again saw Ryan back down in Dublin in 2009. He hooked up with Polish percussionist Artur Graczyk, an old friend from the dying embers of Shiversaint. Embracing the freedom of movement created by acoustic guitar and cajon (or crate to our non Spanish readers) the pair hit thestreets of Dublin to eak out a living. An inventive and crafty guitarist with a powerful and expressive voice, Ryan's dynamic interplay with Artur's "four limbs good" rhythmic attack must be seen to be believed. As a songwriter, he has crammed a lot of living into his days, and this is reflected in his expressive and accessible approach to words and music.While entertaining the human traffic of Temple Bar, Ryan and Artur were spotted by his current management team. This led to a showcase at The Academy jam-packed with great and the good of the Dublin media mafia, and a subsequent record deal with leading Irish independent label Rubyworks.After a busy summer of gigging, including spots at Oxegen, Electric Picnic and Benicassim in Spain; Ryan played some high profile Irish gigs with Rodrigo y Gabriela, Mark Lanegan and Wallis Bird. His debut single 'Jigsaw' was released in September, and was an immediate hit at Irish radio and on iTunes. He will play his first headline tour around Ireland in December.

“I told people I was a drummer before I even had a set...” Keith MoonWe're a 6 piece drumming group, based in Waterford, Ireland. We've played around Ireland, The UK and Poland over the last nine or so years, bringing our sound to festivals and events, large and small.Our sound is unique amongst drumming groups, having been described at various times as Rock, Techno, Metal, House or Hip Hop beats. To us, it's all of these, more, and none.What we do can be seen and heard on the 'Watch' and 'Listen' links above. How we do it is below

HUEY

Huey And The Hobgoblins have spent the last 2 years transforming from a fledgling 3-piece to a venue-packing 10-piece blues/folk/retro-pop band. Their love for great music and good times soon cemented a lasting bond between the ten, which has become a visible part of the band's live performances. Taking inspiration from their many and varied influences such as Crosby, Stills and Nash, Rory Gallagher, The Meters, Muddy Waters, Lalo Schifrin, The Band, Gomez, Miles Davis and Bob Dylan, The Hobgoblins have sculpted their sound into something somewhere between Paolo Nutini and The Commitments, with a blue note thrown into the mix. The 'Goblins have already taken their unique live sound to festivals around Ireland such as Electric Picnic and Oxegen, making a name for themselves as a crowd pleasing good-time band playing catchy, upbeat and orignal tunes. Both of the bands independenly funded and released singles went straight into the Irish Top 50 in their first week, and they've earned regular gigs in venues like Dublins Twisted Pepper and Sean's Bar in Athlone, and seem to gather more momentum, believers and friends every step of the way.

Ham

Ham Sandwich are a five piece Irish rock band, with members hailing from County Meath and Dublin. Charismatically fronted by Podge McNamee (vocals/guitar) and Niamh Farrell (vocals) the line-up is completed by Dave McEnroe (bass guitar), Brian Darcy (guitar) and Ollie Murphy (drums). The band have steadily built upon a devoted following in the Irish alternative music scene, and have been noted for their incendiary live performances at venues such as Whelans in Dublin. In addition to their reputation as one of Ireland’s best live rock acts, Ham Sandwich have released a number of critically acclaimed singles and EPs; which have been distinguished by the consistent quality of all the songs contained therein. Initially, the band’s name attracted more attention than the music. However, as Ham Sandwich became established, the name increasingly became an irreverance, and the music took precedence.Ham Sandwich have played alongside such internationally renowned artists as Electric Six, Whitesnake, Pere Ubu, Isobel Campbell, Mark Lanegan, My Morning Jacket, The Bluetones, I’m from Barcelona and The Buzzcocks amongst others. Ham Sandwich released their fourth single Click…click…BOOM in February 2007 following the success of singles Sad songs, St. Christopher and Words. Both Words and Click Click Boom were selected as Hotpress ‘single of the fortnight’. St. Christopher and Words were also listed in Phantom FM’s singles of the year 2006. The band performed Click…click…BOOM on the Late Late Show (RTE 1)

PROFILE The Profile are an anthemic, alternative rock band. Some bands are friends or grow to be friends and some musicians seek each other out to jam. The Profile are elements of all of the above. The band is anchored by two brothers, Sean & Brian, and projected by the energy of long time friends, Robert & Alan. Never shy of working hard, The Profile have immersed themselves into being creative, tenacious and truthful.The Profile are a blank white page who have collectively cut their teeth on the Irish gig circuit. In a fight to get heard The Profile have made their double A sided single entitled “the rooskey sessions” available for free download online. Recently Music Review Unsigned has made the band artist of the month for May 2011 and the band (formerly known as Strange Glue) has been busy gigging around to promote their new name and new style of music.Put simply, this band would love to be heard.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tupelo are an exciting, original, acoustic roots act consisting of an eclectic line-up of instruments which includes banjo, guitar, fiddle, saxophone and double bass. Their sound is fresh and unique in today's world of endless electric outfits.Tupelo formed in the winter of 2008 in Dublin. Tupelo can attribute their progress to relentless giging up and down the country, honing their craft doing so. Between headlining shows, appearances at countless festivals, and playing support to some of music's biggest acts, the band loves being on the road and thrives off their fans and live shows.In May 2011 Tupelo signed to Crashed Records and with their 14 track debut album 'Dirty Money' hitting the shelves this September, a promising road lies ahead for Tupelo. Locally based and run Skerries Seatours is a new and exciting venture run by local boat man Eoin Grimes which will be running at the this years festival

Eoin has grown up around the sea in Skerries and has been involved in boating all his life. Having sailed all his life Eoin worked for several years as the local “punt man” for the sailing club.

Eoin has also been a member of the local lifeboat crew for the last few years, an association which has seen him acquire a number of qualifications as a Powerboat driver and also in First Aid and Radio communications

Blobbing is an outdoor water activity in which a participant sits on the end of a partially inflated air bag (known as a water trampoline or blob) and is then launched into the water after another participant jumps onto the air bag from a platform on the opposite side. The activity is popular at summer camps in North America. Various tricks, similar to those in diving, may be performed while the participant is in the air. The air bag is approximately 10 meters long (33 feet) by 2 meters wide (6 feet). The recommended height for the tower is 15 feet above the water surface, or 10 feet above the air bag.

A Thrilling Experience

Professional powerboat racing is unlike any other form of motor sport. The pilot and his (or her) equipment are matched, not only against other competitors, but also against the changing and unpredictable elements of water and weather.

Jolting from wave to wave, the pilot must constantly battle the repeated shock of the boat pounding across the water. This means that a 12 stone pilot will temporarily exert a weight of 36 stone on their boat. The pivoted, square turns exert a force of up to three lateral Gs, slamming pilots into the sides of the race craft, and putting extraordinary pressure on the neck, back, shoulders, chest

Tall Ships The Johanna Lucretia was built in 1945 at the Rhoose shipyard in Ghent, Belguim.Although originally built as a fishing vessel she was never used for this purpose and laid as a completed hull and deck for a number of years before being sold in 1952. She was then converted and completed in 1954 for recreational use by her new owner and sailed Dutch waters from her home port of Enkhuizen in the Netherlands.In 1989 there was a change of ownership to a British citizen who registered Johanna as a national vessel with Plymouth as her home port. In 1991/1992 she was refitted at T Nielsen & Co. Ltd. in Gloucester UK to her present configuration and was used for sail training and private charter from Gibraltar, The Caribbean and the East coast of the USA.In 2001 she changed ownership again and for reasons unknown lay abandoned in Gloucester Docks UK.In 2008 she was arrested by British Waterways for non payment of licenses and mooring dues and subsequently sold to her present owner.
Built by F J Carver and Son in Bridgwater, 1907, Irene is the last of the West Country Trading Ketch's still under sail. She sailed for 50 years as part of the fleet of British Merchant vessels through two world wars and a Great Recession. For many years she belonged to the Bridgwater Brick and Tile Company plying the waters of the Bristol Channel between Bridgwater and Ireland, carrying cargoes of tiles and bricks. Later she was used for transporting coal and clay around the coast. She was built to be beached and often unloaded her cargo into carts to be taken by horse across the sands to small isolated communities. She retired from her trading service in 1960 and then changed hands a few times before being converted to a house boat. In 1965 she was found in a derelict state in the Hamble river by her present owner, Doctor Leslie Morrish. He bought her for £2,500.00 and began a restoration job that lasted nearly 20 years. His initial task was to motor-sail Irene around to Brentford on the Thames, Irene's home for the next 15 years. The trip was not without mishap; going under Hammersmith Bridge the bowsprit stuck in the last span of the bridge, pierced the pavement, shut the bridge in the rush hour and cut off the gas supply to half of south London. It was a dramatic start to a new life. When Irene reached Brentford Leslie Morrish and his family lived on board using her as a house boat and restoring her at the same time. Once she had been restored to her former glory she was used for many commercials, film and fashion shoots. Irene played the part of "The Flying Dutchman" in the epic film biography of the composer Richard Wagner. Four years ago Irene undertook the Atlantic and made the crossing to the Caribbean where she has been available for exclusive charter ever since.

Our event The Jack & Jill came down the hill ball roll is basically a charity ball roll which consists of sponsored balls being released down the main street hill of Clogherhead during the prawn festival opening ceremoney.
