Welcome to the Clogherhead Prawn Festival. 3 days of family friendly fun from the 16th - 18th July 2010...Sea, Food, Sessions!
With the festival over and the organisers well rested we would just like to say a massive thank you! You the people made it the success that it was, showing up in your thousands for the world record, bungee jumping, endurance swimming, Aquathlon, greasy pole, dog show, Prawn Idol. Whatever took you to Clogherhead we’re glad you came!
Friday night set the tone for the weekend – fun filled family entertainment – and the kids stole the show with their non stop dancing to The Enemies on stage! The parade was like nothing seen before in Clogherhead, or anywhere else for that matter. Community spirit and that warm welcome to Clogherhead were alive and well and the party continued.
We broke French hearts on Saturday but all in good humour as we smashed the world record on the beach. Then on to the pier to take in that unique festival atmosphere that you will only get in Clogherhead! The night rolled onto the festival marquee and what a night there was. Mother Nature played her part and gave us a sunset to remember for a time to come!
The rain came on Sunday and never to let that spoil a good day out you carried on. Maybe it was the lure of prawn cocktails on the pier or prawn idols in the marquee but the weather wasn’t going to stop us. Busses rolled on from pier to park and back again while kids jumped from one puddle to the next on the harbour road. The rain gave up its poor effort to dampen spirits and the skies cleared for the finale in the Marquee, while many an unhappy employer had to accept that this was one Monday morning in July that wouldn’t need a sick cert!
The most sincere of thanks has to go to all of the festival volunteers and stewards who manned car-parks and road closures to keep everybody flowing around the village all weekend! Without you guys the festival wouldn’t have been the success that it was – THANK YOU!!

Fancy Dress Sunday
Sunday Night is Fancy Dress Night at the Prawn Festival!! Classic Beatles & Boogie Nights will provide the inspiration for some of the costumes and there will be a prize for best dressed lady from Gosh Cosmetics!!!
